What is ReStore?
ReStore Elgin is a 20,000 sq. ft. building
materials resale center benefiting Habit for Humanity Northern
Fox Valley. ReStore accepts donated new and gently used goods
from retailers, manufacturers, distributors, contractors and
homeowners. Home improvement materials are then sold, at
greatly reduced prices, to the general public. The store's
operation generates funds to support Habitat’s house
building program in the northern Fox Valley area, while
reducing the amount of material that would otherwise go into
landfills.
Is ReStore open to the public? Yes! Anyone is welcome to shop at the ReStore. Store hours are 9-6 Wednesday - Friday and 9-4 on Saturday. ReStore is closed Sunday through Tuesday. Hours and location What does ReStore sell?
ReStore’s inventory is constantly
changing, but always includes: cabinets, lighting and plumbing
fixtures, furniture, hardware, carpet, tools, trim, doors,
lumber, flooring, and windows. Since all items are donated,
there’s always something new at ReStore.
How are the items priced at ReStore?
Materials are sold to the public at 50 -
75% off the retail price. In addition, we frequently have
sales and specials. What payment methods does ReStore accept?
Cash, check (with proper identification),
Visa and MasterCard. Does ReStore accept returns?
All items are sold “as is.”
No returns. No exchanges. So consider your
purchase carefully; measure twice, buy once. Where do items come from?
ReStore accepts new and used home
improvement materials from contractors, suppliers, individuals,
remodelers and property managers. How often do you get new merchandise?
Our inventory is constantly changing --
we receive items daily. How do I go about donating an item?

For our corporate partners, we offer a pick-up service in Elgin and
surrounding areas. Where do the proceeds from the sales go?
ReStore proceeds support Habitat For
Humanity’s objectives of building affordable houses for
low-income families. All monies raised stay in Kane
County, improving the community and the quality of life for
everyone. Are my donations tax deductible?
Yes, as Habitat is a 501(c )3 charity, all
donations are tax deductible. Please consult your tax
accountant to verify your individual tax deduction limits. Does ReStore place a value on items we donate?
No, you place the value on your donations.
How can my business get involved?
There are many ways local businesses can
contribute: donate material, financial donations, equipment
donations, sponsor a special event for the ReStore, place an ad
for or with the ReStore, volunteer, or shop at the
ReStore.
